After being called out by head coach Rex Ryan this offseason, Jeremy Kerley played an important part of the Jets offense in week 1, with four catches for 45 yards and 1 TD.

But that is not what the league recognized him for this week.

Congratulations go out to Jeremy for earning Special Teams Player of the Week Honors for the AFC, after taking the one punt return he received to the house, for a 68 yard TD. He did all of this, despite coming off of hamstring problems that kept him out of action for the majority of the preseason.

Here is the video tape of the punt return, so Jets fans can relive and enjoy:

How lethal a weapon is he? Maybe he used Rex Ryan’s words as motivation, but he sure looked terrific on Sunday afternoon against the Buffalo Bills. Pittsburgh is always a tough task for the Jets, and special teams could be the difference. Look for Jeremy Kerley to be important this week, and every week going forward.
