Jets Waive WR Patrick Turner,Re-Sign Sapp to Practice Squad

A couple of moves were announced by the Jets this afternoon.

The first is a bit of a curious one by Mike Tannenbaum and company. The Jets released WR Patrick Turner today. He had begun quite the rapport with Mark Sanchez during the preseason, being the only veteran WR healthy for all of training camp, so this came as a suprise. We didn’t get a chance to see him much on Sunday, thanks to a hamstring injury sustained during the game, but the word is he was going to practice tomorrow. I guess that is a moot point.

Some wonder if this is going to clear the way for Jordan White to be activated from the practice squad, but that remains to be seen.

In other news, the Jets, as expected, brought OLB Ricky Sapp back to the practice squad. He was hampered by a high ankle sprain for most of training camp, but the team loves his ability to rush the passer. To make room, CB LeQuan Lewis was released from the practice squad.
