Although we are still waiting on a major move, the Jets did make one move today.
Rookie safety Antonio Allen, released yesterday by the Jets, cleared waivers. Therefore, the Jets brought him back as the final member of the practice squad. Brining Allen back into the fold means only two draft picks are completely off of the team, the two Baylor choices, Terrance Ganaway and Robert Griffin.
Many were disappointed in the release of Allen, with the safety position having such a brutal season in 2011. But, to the Jets excitement, he made it through waivers so they were able to bring him back to the team on the practice squad.
The moves so far have been for fringe guys, in what was to be a “mini-draft”, as Mike Tannenbaum called it, for the New York Jets. They are still lacking depth on the offensive line, a blocking tight end, a proven wide receiver to help Santonio, and depth and the running back position. It remains to be seen if more is coming from Tannenbaum and the Jets.
