Jets Announce Their Final Roster Moves

It’s been a long day for Mike Tannenbaum and his staff down in Florham Park. We all know that today is “Cut Day” for the NFL, and the Jets, along with all other teams, had to bring the roster down to the 53 player maximum. Earlier today we listed the initial moves, check out our site for them. A few minutes ago, the Jets announced the final moves necessary to get down to the 53 player maximum. And here are the seven players that have been released:

OT Paul Cornick
DB Donnie Fletcher
RB Terrance Ganaway
WR Royce Pollard
LB Ricky Sapp
TE Hayden Smith
WR Jordan White

A couple of things here. No real surprise to see Hayden Smith on this list, although he was improving. He was not ready to play in an NFL game yet. The word is the Jets are going to bring him back for the practice squad. Ricky Sapp was promising, but a high ankle spraid hurt his chances to show what he could do. The only surprises to me are Ganaway and White, as the Jets are short on playmakers on offense, and both of these guys showed promise.

The good news is that despite early reports today, fan favorite Damon Harrison made the final 53. It shows what hard work can do. We congratulate him and all 52 other players that made the roster.
