Bart Scott is never short of things to say. Yesterday, the topic on the Mad Backer’s mouth was Mark Sanchez, and what he expects to see out of him this year:

“To take that next step,” Scott said. “To be one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league. It’s year four and in year four, the game slows down for you.”

He made comparisons to Joe Flacco, who was drafted one year prior to Sanchez:

“Last year you saw Joe Flacco take the next step in his fourth year,” he said. “And you can see Mark do the same.”

Bart has echoed all accounts from practice, that Sanchez is taking that next step as a leader in his demeanor. He is directing the receivers well and handling the huddle like a veteran:

“Now he carries himself upright. He sticks that chest out like a peacock,” Scott said. “That really shows confidence to him but it also helps inspire his players because they respond, because he is the leader, and they are going to go as he goes.”
