July 27, 2012; Jacksonville FL, USA; Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Lee Evans (83) runs the ball during the first afternoon of training camp practice at Florida Blue Health
We have talked at length about the Jets lack of depth at wide receiver. Whether the guys they have are going to pan out or not, remains to be seen. A veteran wouldn’t hurt.
Lee Evans was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars yesterday. The question is, should the Jets take a look?
He is 6’0″, 210 pounds, and only 31 years old. He certainly has gas left in the tank.
Here is some video on Lee from his days in Buffalo:
He had some good years in Buffalo, with his best year being 2006, with 82 catches, 1,292 yards and 8 TDs. He is a good target in the redzone as you can see in the tape.
Over his years in Buffalo (7), he recorded 43 TDs. He was a viable option in the red zone, and an able bodied receiver in general, averaging 53 catches per year.
However, I wouldn’t pay a lot for this guy, turn the page and I will tell you about why.

Alan has been a passionate Jets fan since 1985. Obviously, that means he is a glutton for punishment, as he has suffered through many Jets disappointments. He remembers Mark Gastineau's late hit in the 1986 AFC Divisional Playoff game like it was yesterday. There have been many more failures than successes, but through it all, Alan has remained true to the Gang Green. He has been blogging for the Jets on various websites for the past 5-6 years. He lives and breathes the NY Jets all year round, and is committed to bringing the Jets passion to "The Jet Press" on a daily basis.
