Matt Slauson was involved in a competition for the left guard position. He won that competition, beating out Vladimir Ducasse. However, he made an interesting move, that probably saved him a roster spot, whether he was starter or not.

He took a pay cut last week.

Matt was supposed to earn $1.308 million, but renegotiated the first of the month. He took it down to $1.05 million between his salary and signing bonus.

It’s just interesting to note the move, as he was in a competition. Agreeing to a pay cut likely would have saved his roster spot, even though it is moot anyway.
