Matt Slauson Wins Jets Left Guard Competition

Jets fans, you can exhale now. The “Summer of Vlad” appears to be over.

Rex Ryan announced that Matt Slauson will be the starting left guard. Here is what he had to say:

“I think Vlad will play,” Ryan said. “I think he’s earned that right. I think he’s looked pretty good. But I think right now we’d go with Matt. He’s got the experience, but he [also] looks really good to me.”

A competition began in camp, but Ducasse’s reps with the first team have decreased slowly but surely.

And Jets Nation breathed a sigh of relief.
