We remember a while back when new offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo stated the utmost confidence in Wayne Hunter, saying he would be the starting right tackle as long as he was the line coach.

Mike didn’t go that far, but he noted the past success that Hunter has had in limited spurts, and that if they can improve at any position, they will.

Translation? Vernon Carey, whom the Jets have reportedly great interest in, should wait by the phone. Other than that, Mike talked up Austin Howard today, so Jets fans, feel free to root hard for him.

I know I will be.
