So far in training camp, we have had a few standout players. Some were to be expected, like Stephen Hill, but some are not as well known to Jets fans. One is a defensive back that we are going to talk about this morning. He has been all over the field and turning heads while doing it. He is trying to earn a spot in a crowded area. Today we profile Ellis Lankster.
The twenty five year old back was not a standout player growing up. He actually spent two years in junior college at Jones County Junior College, before transferring to West Virginia University for his junior and senior seasons.
He earned second team All-Big East in 2008, and was a participant in the Senior Bowl following the 2009 season.
Ellis still went unnoticed in the NFL draft, as he was chosen in the 7th round of the 2009 draft by the Buffalo Bills.

Alan has been a passionate Jets fan since 1985. Obviously, that means he is a glutton for punishment, as he has suffered through many Jets disappointments. He remembers Mark Gastineau's late hit in the 1986 AFC Divisional Playoff game like it was yesterday. There have been many more failures than successes, but through it all, Alan has remained true to the Gang Green. He has been blogging for the Jets on various websites for the past 5-6 years. He lives and breathes the NY Jets all year round, and is committed to bringing the Jets passion to "The Jet Press" on a daily basis.
