No More Jim Leonhard for the New York Jets

Sadly, the picture to the right is the last we will see of Jim Leonhard in a Jets uniform.

As expected, the Jets are cutting ties with Leonhard, announcing yesterday that they will not be resigning the safety. Leonhard, a fan favorite and one of Rex Ryan’s transplants from Baltimore, was the quarterback of the secondary for the past three seasons.

Unfortunately, the last two seasons ended with Jim on injured reserve, so there are lingering questions about his durability. The Jets signed Yeremiah Bell and LaRon Landry, kept Eric Smith while drafting Josh Bush and Antonio Allen. Clearly, the Jets are going a different way at the position.

No surprise here, but I am sure I am not alone in Jets nation wishing Leonhard well, no matter where he ends up.
