Aaron Maybin Excited About Team Speed

Adding Aaron “Mayhem” Maybin was a big factor in team speed in 2011. However, Maybin was in a minority, as we all know the team was quite slow. The Jets have taken steps to rectify that, as Maybin discussed in his summer Q and A:

The speed and the tempo of the game on offense and defense. On offense, I would probably say it has to do more with the tempo, and they have definitely inserted some guys into our lineup that have a little bit more speed than we had in years past. And definitely from a defensive perspective, you just look at the bodies of guys on the defense and guys have gotten a lot more cut up, a lot faster. It’s going to be exciting to watch out there, because I think collectively as a team we are faster, and we’re in better shape.

We knew that this was a big issue from 2011, so it’s good to see there are visable changes. Let’s just hope it translates into wins.
