With Curtis Martin’s ceremony in Canton approximately one month away, it’s time to take a look back at some great moments from his career. From his career with the Jets, of course. Nothing from his time on that other team counts.
Curtis had so many great moments in the Green and White, it is very difficult to rank them. So instead, they will be presented in a random order, just for the sake of reliving, as we move closer to his enshrinement.
So, here is the first in our list of Curtis Martin moments:
1998 Week 3, Jets beat the Colts 44-6
The Jets entered this game 0-2. The Jets were coming off a year in 1997 where they, in what was Bill Parcells’ first year with the team, came within one win of making the playoffs.
1998 started, and seemed like the same old Jets. They were 0-2, and didn’t seem to have any momentum coming into week 3. The Colts, with a young guy named Peyton Manning were coming into town. Parcells had made a change at QB, inserting Vinny Testaverde for a slumping Glenn Foley. Things were not going well.
But, the Jets had a weapon that was ready to make his first mark. That weapon was Curtis Martin.
