What is Kris Jenkins Talking About?

Kris Jenkins has been an outspoken guy since he joined the media after his retirement. He has directed a lot of his outspokenness towards one of his former teams, the New York Jets. Yesterday, he was specifically talking about the fans of NY. Hearing the quote, you have to wonder a bit, what Kris Jenkins is talking about.

“I think if the Jets fans knew how much power they had, they might fall back a little bit and not make as much noise,” Jenkins said. “Wherever the mob goes, the organization is going to go.”

Interesting, but an odd point considering nobody wanted Tim Tebow to come here. Does anyone remember headlines saying that the Jets need Tim Tebow? I don’t. Jenkins went on:

“The organization wants to sell tickets. They want to make money, sell merchandise and all of that. If the fans feel a certain way, the organization is going to be accommodating to them to a certain degree,” Jenkins said. “That’s going to affect how things are working in-house. That’s going to affect decisions that are made.”

To a point, Kris is right. The Jets are driven to dominate headlines. Whether they admit it or not, it’s clear. They also want to make their fans happy. The Jets are driven to give us what we want, as Super Bowl.

But what is Kris talking about right now? What exactly, have the fans made noise about?

Nobody made noise for the Jets to bring in Tim Tebow. Unless I have been asleep, there was no begging from the fans to bring in Tim Tebow. That was a business decision, whether Woody will admit it or not.

Even if you go back further, back to 2008. Brett Favre was not called upon by the fans. Just because the fans warm up to a move(I was not one of them), doesn’t mean the fans wanted that move. Nobody expected that move to be made either, but the Jets wanted headlines, and to sell #4 jerseys.

A lot of what the Jets have done recently has not been what the fans wanted. For Jenkins to make this point now makes no sense to me. Maybe he is still annoyed by the way the Jets cut him.
