My All Time Jets Roster-Offensive Line

A little over one week ago, I brought you my All Time Jets Roster-Backs and Receivers. If you missed it, you can read it by clicking here.  This morning, I bring to you my all time Jets, offensive linemen.

In case you have forgotten, these are guys that I remember watching play, so they had to have played 1985 or later, as that is the first season in my conscious memory.

With that, comes my All Time Jets Roster-Offensive Linemen. Here we go…

CENTER:Kevin Mawae-This one was a close one between Mawae and our current, big-bearded center, but Mawae wins by a hair. In his 8 years with the Jets (1998-2005), Mawae was named to the Pro Bowl 6 times, and was All-Pro 6 times. In 1998, Mawae helped Curtis Martin rush for team record 8 one hundred yard games. Mawae gets the spot at center.

GUARD:Alan Faneca-Slim pickings at the guard position through the years, but Faneca is an obvious choice. He came to the Jets in 2008, and helped the running game rebound and the Jets get back to a 9-7 season. In 2009, the Jets moved forward under Rex Ryan, with the top rushing attack in the league, and the Jets went to the title game. In both seasons with the Jets, Faneca made the Pro Bowl and was named All Pro. Alan Faneca is an easy choice.

GUARD:Jim Sweeney-As mentioned before, the Jets haven’t had a lot of stars at this position, but through the muck, Jim Sweeney gets the other guard position. He played for the Jets for 10 years (1984-1994), and played for some good Jets teams in the 1980s. He also carved the way for Freeman McNeil for several of those years, and McNeil never averaged less than 4 yards per carry, and that earns Sweeney the start.

TACKLE:D’Brickashaw Ferguson-Not to be a broken record, but the Jets don’t have a great history with offensive linemen. There are many Jets quarterbacks that will attest to that. However, Ferguson has been terrific, and even though he hasn’t been around long, he gets the nod. 6 years in the league, 3 Pro Bowls. It’s better than most Jets tackles.

TACKLE:John “Jumbo” Elliot-Jumbo has to be on the team after making a TD catch during the Monday Night Miracle. An offensive lineman catching a TD pass? How could he not be on the team. Jumbo was solid for 6 seasons with the Jets, and a solid addtion to this roster.

HONORABLE MENTION-Nick Mangold, Reggie McElroy, Joe Fields, Dan Alexander.
