No Injury for Santonio Holmes, Just Too Many Reps

Thank goodness for small favors.

Earlier we reported that Santonio Holmes through down his helmet at OTAs and walked off the field in frustration, and was seen talking to trainers, which caused some to think there was an injury.

Fortunately, that is not the case. He has been away for a while, as he was with the troops during previous OTAs, and ran out of gas, didn’t feel he could finish his scheduled reps.

“I was talking to the coach, letting him understand it was too many reps today,” Holmes said. “I’ve been gone for a while, so I can’t be at full tempo like the rest of the guys and where they want us to be at.”

Coach Ryan was OK with it, didn’t know it at first, but when he learned he said it was good that Holmes “knows his body”.

Glad to see that this wasn’t injury related, nor was it more temper tantrums like we saw at the end of the 2011 season.

It’s early, he will get back into shape.
