In this week’s Sunday Morning Spotlight, we take a look at a guy that showed his value to the Jets in 2011, almost as much during the games he missed as the games he played. He has a beard that is so well known that he had a contest to name it. He’s an annual Pro Bowl roster member, and has a 3x All Pro, and loves his Jets so much, he won’t even go watch his sister in the Olympics this summer because he refuses to miss time at training camp. Spotlight on C, Nick Mangold.
Born in Centerville, OH, Mangold comes from the same town as former teammate Mike Nugent, and Ohio State alum A.J Hawk.
Nick attended Archbishop Alter High School in Kettering, OH, where he lettered in football, wrestling, and track and field. He was a three year football starter on offense and defense, and earned All-State honors during his senior year.

Alan has been a passionate Jets fan since 1985. Obviously, that means he is a glutton for punishment, as he has suffered through many Jets disappointments. He remembers Mark Gastineau's late hit in the 1986 AFC Divisional Playoff game like it was yesterday. There have been many more failures than successes, but through it all, Alan has remained true to the Gang Green. He has been blogging for the Jets on various websites for the past 5-6 years. He lives and breathes the NY Jets all year round, and is committed to bringing the Jets passion to "The Jet Press" on a daily basis.
