Here’s my bold prediction for the 2012 season and the New York Jets: Dustin Keller will make the 2012 Pro Bowl.
Yes, I know that there are two BIG tight ends for the evil empire that might have a little something to say about that but I think that Dustin Keller will make the Pro Bowl this year for the New York Jets to give someone on offense other than D’Brickashaw Ferguson, Nick Mangold, and Brandon Moore.
Here are four reasons why:
1. Keller has been one of the top tight ends in the National Football League since he came in the league in 2008.
2. Keller’s numbers last year are comparable to Aaron Hernandez. In 2011, Hernandez caught 79 passes for 910 yards and caught seven touchdowns. Keller caught 65 passes for 815 yards and caught five touchdowns in the same amount of games started. Hernandez should’ve been named to the Pro Bowl and if he should’ve then so should’ve Keller. The San Diego Chargers Antonio Gates, who was named to the Pro Bowl caught 64 passes for 778 yards and caught seven touchdowns. With those numbers, please tell me how Keller didn’t get named to the Pro Bowl?
3. Since a lot of the voting is a popularity contest, and based on a name, then you can take out long time Colt Dallas Clark. Clark’s now on Tampa Bay.
4. He’s the best receiver the Jets have and I think the most sure handed of the group. That’s why you can see him making all the plays that he does and many of the plays that you see a lot of the other tight ends make so in all honesty, why not him?
I know the Pro Bowl is a big joke because there is no real defense in that game but for someone who has played as consistently as he has for the Jets, Keller should make the Pro Bowl and he will make the Pro Bowl in 2012.
