Now to compare 2011:
RECEPTIONS: Keller-65, Shiancoe-36
RECEIVING YARDS: Keller-815, Shiancoe-409
TDs: Keller-5, Shiancoe-3
So, clearly Keller has put up the better stats. The only stats that Shiancoe has beaten Keller on are yardage and TDs, but if you look at the stats on www.nfl.com, that is a lot to do about Keller being in the league only three years.
Heck, Keller is only a little over 100 yards behind Shiancoe after only three years. The Jets need a number two tight end.
So what’s the problem?
The only concern I could see is run blocking. Shiancoe is a terrific pass blocker, but doesn’t grade out well against the run. That could be a major concern as the Jets return to ground and pound.
But if the Jets feel they can improve his blocking, Shiancoe would be a good secondary addition to the New York Jets.
