Can Hayden Smith Make it in the NFL?

What about this guy, Hayden Smith?  He played rugby, he is now playing the first football, American football at least, of his life.  Can the transition be made?  Has it ever been done before?  The guys at www.nyjetsoverthepond.com take a closer look at Smith, and the other guys that have the transition as well.  Here’s one guy that I bet a lot of you didn’t know played rugby:

Haloti Ngata (Defensive End) The current Raven, who’ll will be known for his $15,000 fine for roughing the passer during last season, played Rugby during High School for the Highland Rugby Club, helping them to the National Rugby Championship. Ngata was selected by the Ravens as the 12th overall pick of the 2006 draft.

It seems like this guy has the athletic ability to do it.  He will ride the bench a bit, as he does have Dustin Keller, among others, in front of him.  But time will tell how good this guy can be.
