We all know the budding situation at QB. You have the incumbent, Mark Sanchez, and the famous backup, who needs no introduction. How’s it going to work? Will there be a controversy? For now, both guys are saying all of the right things. Tebow praised Mark, and Mark praised Tebow. Tebow, at media access yesterday, didn’t have a lot to say about his role in the upcoming season.

“Right now, we’re just putting in the offense and installing the offense and just trying to learn that,” Tebow said. “I’m sure that will take a little while. … That’s our main focus right now. It’s not necessarily special situations or anything like that.”

He’s also not worried that their will be a quarterback controversy.

“We just have a good friendship and really (have to) not let outside circumstances get in the way of our friendship,” Tebow said. “That’s the cool thing about being friends… is we can talk. We got an open relationship.” “We’re trying to push each other to get better and help each other to get better,” he added. “I think we’re on the same page and we want each other to do well.”

He said he’s always team first, and that he is game for anything the team wants him to do.

He also said he doesn’t think of it as two offenses, it’s “the Jets offense”.  He wants to be the best he can be, and that he says is all he wants.

“I think it’s fair to say that I always want to be my best… as good as I can possibly be,” Tebow said. “Push myself to the limits just as a far as a quarterback, a passer, learning defenses, learning offenses… just trying to be the best football player that I can possibly be. That’s what I’m not going to settle for anything less than.”

“I’m just going to try to make myself a little bit better every day and push myself,” he added.

Mark doesn’t seem to be concerned either. ”

I hope every backup quarterback wants the job of a starter,” Sanchez said.  “That’s the way you have to prepare. I’ve been in those shoes in college,  anticipating the game setting like I’m the starter, and then getting to the game  and not playing. Fortunately for Tim, he has the ability to do other things and  that’s why he’s on board. He’s a backup quarterback first, and then he’ll do  plenty of other stuff.”

Both guys are saying the right things.  It’s interesting, Mark Sanchez was very quick to mention that Tebow is the backup quarterback first.  Is he making sure everyone remembers that, or is he saying it because he’s nervous?  It could be nothing, but hey, it seemed worth mentioning when I saw Mark speak on TV.

They are saying the appropriate things.  This is a major factor in 2012, and this as we have outlined many times before, will make or break the season.
