Wayne Hunter and Santonio Holmes Letting Bygones be Bygones

At media day in Jet land, Wayne Hunter talked about how he and Santonio Homes have made peace, since their spat in Miami on the final day of the 2011 season. They reached accord on the first day of offseason conditioning.

“I told him, you know what? Clean slate,” Hunter said.

Their rift between the two offensive players last season exposed a dysfunctional locker room and a team that questioned the ability of quarterback Mark Sanchez. Hunter said that Holmes has turned it around this year, from what he’s seen.

“He’s been great,” Hunter said. “Santonio has been great. He’s been doing extra stuff that people wouldn’t believe, he’s been doing extra with Mark. He’s been doing stuff that he hasn’t done in the past. He’s been a team player. And it’s been a good change.”

I like it for now, but I do see this heading south again. Whether you like Wayne Hunter or not, he is a guy that is definitely team first. If Santonio starts, sulking, or mouthing off again, these two might go at it.

I hope we have heard the end of this, but I am just not so sure.
