Although Coples participated in individual drills at Jets camp today, he sat out of team drills. He is not hurt, it was a coach’s decision.

“They told me to sit out and that’s what I did,” Coples said. “There’s no time for questions. This is the NFL. If the boss says sit down, sit down. So that’s what I did.”

Manish Mehta asked if he was curious as to why he was asked to sit out of team drills.

“I am,” Coples said. “I trust the staff. They (made) the best decision for me. And I’ll move forward from there.”

Coples was asked if he was aware if his contract was about to be signed, as the Jets have held players out of practice before signing contracts before, Coples advised Mehta that he wasn’t.

I don’t think there is really anything to see here, just not giving the kid too much too fast.
