Next, we take a look at another late draft pick of the New York Jets, one chosen to cover the Rob Gronkowskis of the world. Spotlight on safety Antonio Allen, University of South Carolina.

Here is some video on this young man to wet the appetite:

He came into his own in 2011, with 89 tackles, 4 forced fumbles, and 3 INTs. 2010 was nothing to sneeze at either with 63 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 1 INT.

He measures in at 6’1″ 210 pounds, and ran a 4.67 40 at the combine.

PROS: His specialty at SC was press coverage on tight ends, which should be music to the ears of Jets fans.  He also is a very reliable tackler as evidenced by the tape, and his statistics.  He’s great at coming up and stopping the run as well.

CONS: He has to work his backpedal, which will be essential to playing safety in the NFL.

He will get his chance.  He could be a steal late in this draft if he plays to his potential.
