Our Reactions to the Jets Selections of Stephen Hill and Demario Davis

The second choice was Demario Davis:

Watching the video, he clearly is quick, and finds the football quickly as well. He’s a good tackler, when he gets you he doesn’t miss, which is always an asset in a Rex Ryan defense.

He is consistent, evidenced by his 3 straight seasons at Arkansas State with over 60 tackles. He ran a 4.61 40 yard dash at the combine, and measured in at 6’2″ 235 pounds.

He could perform better in the pass defense. He doesn’t rush the passer much, with only 7 sacks over 4 seasons in college. He may be better suited on the inside, rather than an outside linebacker.

A good run stopper will always help. The Jets defense, as we all saw last season, had it’s troubles against the run at times, especially against fast running backs. A fast linebacker that tackles well will never hurt in a Rex Ryan defense.

In my opinion, an excellent night for the New York Jets.
