Mike Tannenbaum and the Jets are picking in the second round with the 47th pick overall. I thought it might be high time to take a look back at the last five years of this pick. Let’s see what we have:

Our own New York Jets owned this pick in 2007, and they made a big impact, choosing linebacker David Harris. He has been a staple on the Jets defense, with no season less than 75 tackles since entering the league.

DT Trevor Laws was taken by the Eagles with this pick in 2008. Primarily a backup, he has only recorded 57 tackles in his four years with the team. The Eagles did much better two picks later, when they selected Desean Jackson.

The Raiders chose DB Mike Mitchell with the 47th pick in 2009. He also has been a backup, with 98 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 2 INTs since joining the league. Lesean McCoy went just a few picks later.

LB Daryl Washington was chosen by the Cardinals with the 47th pick in the 2010 draft. After a decent 78 tackles in 2010, Washington came into his own last year, starting 14 games, recording 107 tackles, 5 sacks, and 2 INTs.

The Rams chose TE Lance Kendricks with the 47th pick last season. He put in a modest 2011 campaign, with 28 receptions for 352 yards.

All in all, the spot has an up and down history. It could be good, it could be worth trading out of. We will find out soon.
