Here is a transcript of today’s news conference regarding the draft, courtesy of the Jets website:

The biggest thing I took out of this is that there is no question that the Jets are going to take the best player available, rather than go for need. I’ve said before that I think this can backfire, but I see their point.

I also found it interesting that Bradway didn’t think that the wide receivers are as prepared, due to limited route trees. They put a lot of emphasis on the private workouts, which I wouldn’t have thought of. I also found the topic of the conversion of DE to LB. Talking about Gholston, and his lack of success, versus the success Bryan Thomas had.

All in all, what you would expect, Tannenbaum and the guys really didn’t commit to anything specific, leaving his options open.

Topics: Alan Schechter, Braylon Edwards, Bryan Thomas, Jets Press Conference, Joey Clinkscales, Mike Tannenabum, NY Jets, Ny Jets Draft, Pass Rusher, Terry Bradway, Vernon Gholston
