This afternoon, and with the draft rapidly approaching, we take a look back. Mike Tannenbaum has been our GM, and therefore leading our draft war room, since 2006. Today, we take a look back at the successful picks Mike Tannenbaum has made for us. Page ahead, one player per page, and re-live the memories.

2006 was a great year for Mike Tannenbaum and the Jets, and this guy was one of the reasons. Nick Mangold, a perennial Pro Bowler, is the anchor of the offensive line.

The fourth round in 2006 gave the Jets Brad Smith. He proved to be an asset running the “Wildcat”, as well as a dangerous kick returner.

Until a broken leg ended his career with the New York Jets, Leon Washington was as dangerous as they come, especially in the return game.

The Jets traded up to the 14th pick of the 2007 draft, trading with the Carolina Panthers. The result? Some guy named Revis. Is there any more to be said? I think not.

David Harris came on the scene in 2007 in the second round, and has been a team leader at the linebacker spot. With 358 tackles, 19.5 sacks and 6 INTs, his play on the field has reflected the same.

The 2008 draft yielded Dustin Keller on the second round, and he has been a favorite target of every quarterback he has played with. He has recorded 213 receptions, 2,559 yards and 15 TDs.

Let’s not forget Mark Sanchez, who led the Jets to 2 AFC championship games, and 4 road playoff wins after the Jets traded up to get him in the first round in 2009.

Shonn Greene came around in the third round of the 2009 draft, and has made some clutch playoff runs, as well as his first 1,000 yard season in 2011.

After being drafted in the first round in 2010, Kyle Wilson has gained an expanding role in the Jets defensive backfield.

The fifth round in 2011 yielded Jeremy Kerley, who gained an increased role in both the return game and as a slot wide receiver, where he made 29 catches in 2011.

Don’t forget first round pick in 2011 Muhammed Wilkerson, who also expanded his role in 2011, playing on the defensive line.

Hopefully, Mike Tannenbaum and company can continue this success in 2012.
