Jets Draft Spotlight: Terrance Ganaway

Another guy the Jets are looking at to add running back depth, is a guy lost in the shuffle, thanks to RG III, and Kendall Wright. Spotlight, RB Terrance Ganaway, Baylor University.

He measures at 6’0″, 239 pounds, and ran a 4.67 second 40 yard dash at the combine.

Here are his final stats from 2011:

250 carries, 1,547 yards, 21 TDs

Pros: He runs with power due to his big frame, and is adept at falling forward for the extra yard after the hit.  He is deceptively athletic, and can break tackles.  He hits the hole quickly and gets North/South immediately.

Cons: He needs to improve his consistency in blocking.  He’s also not a great receiver out of the backfield.  His speed isn’t elite, and he could accelerate better than he does.

Take a look at some highlights from a game against Washington, and you be the judge:

He certainly is quick for his size, and does get North and South without wasting time, like his scouting report says. This could be a nice mid/late round value for the Jets.
