Red Zone Threat? Jets Draft Spotlight WR Juron Criner

Could this be the next Jets red zone threat? Picture courtesy of US Presswire

The Jets are in need of WR depth. Plaxico Burress is one and done. Santonio Holmes is a grump, so we have no idea what we are going to get out of him. The Jets need bodies at WR, and productive ones. A viable option is WR Juron Criner from Arizona University.

A four year player at Arizona, he really came into his own over the last 2 seasons, with 11 TDs in each of those seasons. He caught 75 passes for 956 yards in his senior season to go along with those 11 TDs. He clearly is a threat in the red zone.

He has great size, measuring in at 6’3″ 224 pounds. He is known for using his great reach and size to be able to out work defenders for passes. You can read his full scouting report at nflmocks.com.

Pros: Great size and body control. He is very adept at making plays in traffic. He has big hands, and is a decent blocker, which would make him an asset in the “ground and pound” attack.

Cons: He doesn’t have great foot speed, he only ran a 4.68 40 yard dash at the combine. His long strides make him sometimes ineffective in the short passing game. He also could be more physical in the press coverage.

Here are a couple of Criner catches, and you be the judge:

He looks like a big red zone threat. He is projecting to be available in the third to fourth round, and he would be a great value for the Jets here, I would love to see them get this guy.

What do you guys think of Criner?  Please debate
