Jets’ Drew Stanton Traded to the Colts

Well, that was a long stint as the “backup qb of the NYJ”. Sorry for the Belichick reference.

We have just learned that backup QB Drew Stanton, only signed a little over a week ago, has been traded to the Indianapolis Colts. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This was to be expected for a lot of reasons. The Jets told Stanton he would be the backup QB, and now they bring in Tebow. If you believe Stanton he was told they wouldn’t bring in any more QBs, now this. This hurts the team credibility a great deal. Stanton asked to go, and you can’t blame him. He had no interest in being the number 3.

The trade was Stanton and a 7th round pick, originally belonging to the Jaguars, for a sixth round pick from the Colts.
