Meriweather Cancels Jets Visit, Signs with Redskins

Safety help is not on the way yet Jets fans.

Manish Mehta, among others, is reporting that the Redskins have inked free agent safety Brandon Meriweather to a 2 year , $6 million deal.  Per the reports, this is more than the Jets would have been able to offer due to salary cap restraints.

This is unfortunate, as the Jets are in dire need of safety help.  Eric Smith and the rest were eaten alive all season long by the likes of Rob Gronkowski, Jason Witten, and other tight ends throughout the league.  Brandon Meriweather would have been a welcome addition to the secondary, so back to the drawingboard goes Mike Tannenbaum and his staff.
