New York Jets to tender Maybin contract

Looks like Mayhem will remain in New York for another year.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News is reporting that the New York Jets plan to use the high restricted free agency tender on Aaron Maybin in 2012.  As a result, Maybin will be entitled to a one-year salary in the range of $2.5 million.  In addition, the Jets will have a chance to match any offer Maybin accepts with another team, with the Jets getting a first-round pick as compensation if Maybin leaves.

Translation: Maybin will be a Jet this year.
