Santonio Holmes to stay with New York Jets

It is official.

Santonio Holmes… is still a New York Jet.

And he will most likely be a New York Jet for the next 2 seasons.

With Holmes’ recently signed contract, $7.75 million was already guaranteed for the upcoming 2012 season.

Now, with the close of business on Tuesday, a new $7.75 million is guaranteed for 2013 as well.

Brian Costello of the New York Post reports that, while the $7.75 million for 2012 was already guaranteed, if Holmes has a spot on the team’s roster on the second day after the start of the 2012 league year waiver system (Tuesday), then the next guarantee would set in.

That means Holmes is guaranteed $15.25 million over the next two seasons.  If the Jets had any interest in waiving Holmes it would surely have been made before 4pm on Tuesday.
