Tony Sparano to be named Jets offensive coordinator

With the departure of Brian Schottenheimer, the New York Jets are officially in the market for an offensive coordinator job.

As we previously reported, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that former Dolphins Head Coach Tony Sparano is expected to fill that position, with an announcement likely Wednesday. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News confirms Sparano will be the team’s next coordinator.

While never having been an offensive coordinator before, Sparano was an “assistant head coach” in Dallas where he called plays for one season.
