USC quarterback Matt Barkley has announced that he has decided to remain at USC for another year rather than entering the NFL Draft.
The 21-year-old quarterback was expected to be a Top 10 pick in this year’s draft behind Stanford QB Andrew Luck.
By remaining at USC for another year, Barkley will be the favorite to go Number 1 next year in the Draft.
Good news for USC; bad news for certain NFL teams in desperate need of a QB such as the Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks.
This year Barkley led the USC Trojans to a 10-2 record, including a 7-2 mark in the Pac-12. He threw for 3,528 yards and 39 touchdowns while only tossing seven interceptions.
Even though he thinks he is “fully prepared and ready” to play in the NFL, Barkley has some unfinished business to do.
“I know in my heart I have not yet finished my journey as a Trojan football player,” Barkley said. “The 2012 team has some serious unfinished business to attend to and I intend to play a part in it.”
