Breaking a streak of 6 consecutive games with at least 3 catches, New York Jets wide receiver Plaxico Burress was held without a catch on two targets in New York’s Week 14 win over the Chiefs.
Don’t look too much into this as the game was over before the first quarter ended and the Jets went to ground for most of the game.
As for Burress, he’s focused on the playoffs; somewhere he believes the Jets are headed:
“No doubt about it, I think we’re one of those teams that nobody is going to pay attention to,” he said. “We’re just going to keep going about it, playing our style of football and just win games.”
“I always say that it’s not a sprint it’s a marathon. I’ve been on teams where you didn’t get off to as good a start as you would like to, you know, and finish strong,” Burress said. “And that’s the case here. I see it once a week that the best teams in this league are starting to play their best football in December.
“If you look at the run Green Bay went on last year and the way they started playing in December, they just kind of took off from there. We just have to get into a groove in all three phases of the game and just play smart.”
“When you practice you develop confidence and when you develop confidence you have success on Sundays,” Burress said. “And when you have success on Sundays you play with swagger, and when you play with swagger no one can stop you.
