So that’s how he decided to top a 3 touchdown game.
One week after his career high touchdown performance against the Washington Redskins, it was the Shonn Greene show again at MetLife Stadium as the running back led the New York Jets to a 37-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Greene had 24 rushes for a season-high 129 yards and a score, while also catching three passes out of the backfield for a season-best 58 yards.
“He had a great game. He ran well and he ran hard,” said ex-Jet and current Chief Thomas Jones. “Obviously, I wish he wouldn’t have done it against us, but I’m really happy for him. I look at him as a little brother.”
Entering the game with just one 100-yard game this season, Greene came out early with a 31-yard run — his longest of the season, which set the tone for the afternoon.
“I’m feeling pretty good, I’ve just got to keep it going,” Greene said.
The 26-year-old running back established a new single-season career-high with 868 rushing yards, and is just 132 yards shy of reaching 1,000 yards for the first time.
“We know what he’s capable of,” cornerback Antonio Cromartie said. “The offensive line did a great job of opening holes for him, and he was finding holes and making big runs.”
