Rex Ryan won’t comment on Paterno scandal

Ask New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan to speak on any topic and you’ll probably get an earful.  But when it comes to the Penn State scandal and the departure of Joe Paterno, Ryan won’t go there.

“That’s something that I probably don’t want to touch, because I don’t know anything about it,” Ryan said. “So that’s all I’ll say.”

Defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, a former high school coach in Pennsylvania, however, expressed his sorrow with the situation.

“It’s sad,” said Pettine.  “There’s no positive spin you can put on this. This is a tragic way for a career to end … It’s affected me personally as well as people back home with ties to the program.”
