After starting the season 4-1, the San Diego Chargers have dropped 3 games in a row and are exactly where the New York Jets were when they lost 3 in a row: Turmoil.
At 4-4 and tied with the Kansas City Chiefs and their upcoming opponent the Oakland Raiders, the Chargers need to get on track fast.
This won’t help.
Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports has a team source calling out tight end Antonio Gates.
“It’s harsh to say, but he looks old and fat. He’s not beating people. We don’t have any speed, we’re soft on defense, and we put so much on our quarterback. When he was playing great, we could kind of get away with it. Now he’s not playing very well, and it’s all falling apart,” the source said.
With eight catches for 98 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against Green Bay, it’s not as if Gates has completely disappeared. In three games since returning from his latest foot injury, Gates has 17 catches for 223 yards and two scores.
