Mangini turns down Eagles offer to be Defensive Consultant

It must be getting bad in Philadelphia.

Sal Paolantonio of ESPN is reporting that former New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini has turned down the Eagles offer to be the defensive consultant to first year coordinator Juan Castillo.

On Monday Eagles coach Andy Reid said the team discussed the idea of a consultant to assist Castillo.

On Tuesday, the team, through, an Eagles spokesman, said that they were not hiring one.

Mangini, now working at ESPN, declined comment.
