When was the last time you saw the New York Jets running game look like this?
It’s bad enough that the offensive line, without C Nick Mangold for the past two games, has been a liability for both Shonn Greene and QB Mark Sanchez, but to hear former Jets Guard Damien Woody say the team will not be effective on the ground this year was not cruel.
For offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer though, he sees big things coming.
Schottenheimer predicts the Jets will be one of the top rushing teams when the season ends.
“The running game is a mentality — sometimes it does take a lot of cracks at it — but because we’ve been so good at it in the past and basically those parts are still in place, we have no question we’ll be able to do that,” Schottenheimer said Thursday. “When this is all said and done, we will be an extremely good running football team.”
