Against the Jacksonville Jaguars he was double-covered the entire game, you may have missed that he was even out there.

That should change this week.

New York Jets WR Plaxico Burress, in facing the man-to-man coverage Oakland Raiders this Sunday is ready for a breakout performance.

“If you’re a receiver this is the kind of game you want to play in — against up-close-and-personal man-to-man coverage where it’s mano-a-mano,” Burress said yesterday. “If you can beat man-to-man coverage you can do great things in this league. That’s one of the first things Cris Cartertold me when I first got into the league. He said, ‘If you can beat man-to-man coverage you can play forever.’

“I’ve played in these games before. They’re fun. From a receiver standpoint you love to play in these types of games. I’m fired up and ready to go.”

Good words from Burress who never complained last week despite not catching one pass and only being targeted twice the entire game.
