Jets owner honored to have team playing on 9/11

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson took time yesterday to reflect on 9/11 and the honor that has been bestowed on his team to play tomorrow night, saying that the 10th anniversary “brings back a lot  of memories.”

“My wife, who wasn’t my wife at that point, was late to work [that day]; she  was working for Sandler O’Neill,” Johnson recalled. “They lost I think 40 or 50  percent of their workers at Sandler O’Neill. She just happened to be late  because she was out with clients the night before, and didn’t go in. And she  talked to her boss as she was coming in late and he said, ‘Get the hell out of  here.’ And then the phone went dead.”

“Everybody has a story. There are thousands of stories from that day.”

While he doesn’t expect any terror threats, Johnson did point out that security at the  stadium is “extremely rigorous.”
