Jets Rex Ryan wants Derrick Mason to catch 90-100 passes

Watching the first quarter of the New York Jets preseason game against the Houston Texans, one thing is certain:  Derrick Mason and Mark Sanchez will get along this season.

And what does head coach Rex Ryan think?

How about 90-100 catches.

That’s what Ryan thinks Mason will do in the Jets’ offense this season, according to ESPN’s Suzy Kolber.

“Adding Derrick Mason is huge,” Ryan said. “I don’t know if people realize how big that is.”

Will 61 catches last season, and only topping 90 catches three times, including a career-high 103 catches in 2007, Mason will have to have a monster season, and at age 37, maybe Rex is just being Rex.

But, Sanchez to Mason looked good so far.
