Seven NFL teams are currently over the salary cap

With just a short of amount of time to get under the NFL salary cap, there are still 7 teams that must figure out a way to get out of the Red.

Here are the bottom 7 with the amount over in parentheses:

Raiders ($17.3 million)

Steelers ($11.5 million)

Texans ($8.5 million)

Vikings ($5.6 million)

Lions ($5 million)

Cowboys ($3.7 million)

Panthers ($939,000).

 

It really makes you wonder what in the world the Oakland Raiders are doing.

Of course with the bad comes the good.  There are 11 teams that have more than $20 million in cap room, which despite the common belief, they don’t have to spend this season.  The mandatory spending goes into effect 2013.
