As we reported earlier that certain Plaintiffs, or their agents, in the antitrust lawsuit against the NFL were looking for certain perks (free agency, $10 million payout, no franchise tag), the Executive Committee of the NFLPA met yesterday in Washington to review the latest labor deal. And the result was not pretty.
Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com reports that members of the NFLPA Executive Committee were “infuriated” by the news. “They want blood,” the unnamed player told Freeman.
Apparently CAA was attempting to get special perks for their clients, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning. On Tuesday, Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reported that efforts were being made for Vincent Jackson and Logan Mankins to become immediate free agents or receive $10 million in return for their signature on the settlement agreement.
Fear not, sports fans. The NFLPA has determined that it “would be too cumbersome” to negotiate deals for certain players.
