New York Jets G.M. Mike Tannenbaum, in an interview with the New York Daily News, stated the team’s position with regards to the Big 3 Free Agents.
1. Tannenbaum expects LaDainian Tomlinson to be back. “These things could change, but we do expect him back,” Tannenbaum said, via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “He did good things for us . . . I expect him to contribute for another year.”
2. Linebacker David Harris is second on the list and “a top priority.” The Jets could use the franchise tag on him instead of signing him to a long-term deal. “I wouldn’t eliminate either option,” Tannenbaum said.
3. Tannenbaum has nothing but love for CB Antonio Cromartie. “By and large, he had a good year for us on the field. It wasn’t perfect, but he played well. I was glad he was a Jet. He did everything that we asked of him. I thought he got better. . . . Based on his entire body of work and his year with us, he’s a guy we would like to keep.”
Tannenbaum wouldn’t go into other free agents Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes, but unless they both take a pay cut, look for the Jets to only bring back Holmes.
