Remember last season how the New York Jets caught a break when the Indianapolis Colts rested their starters? Well, the Jets may be getting another break this season.
Pittsburgh Steelers strong safety Troy Polamalu is not expected to play Sunday against the New York Jets.
Polamalu, who missed practice Wednesday and Thursday. aggravated a lower-leg injury in last Sunday’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Post-Gazette reports that Polamalu aggravated the injury when he cut in front of intended Bengals receiver Terrell Owens to intercept Carson Palmer’s pass and return it 45 yards for a touchdown late in the first half of the Steelers’ 23-7 win.
While Polamalu often practices Friday, the newspaper is reporting that won’t be the case this week and Polamalu will be replaced Ryan Mundy or Will Allen.
Major break for the Jets if Polamalu is indeed out. Let’s see if they can capitalize on it.
