Jets short on Safeties for Sunday

Ahh, December Football.  Cold weather, playoffs approaching, and the injury bug certain to hit every team.

For the New York Jets, the injury bug has hit the Safety position hard.

Already without the services of Jim Leonhard for the remainder of the season, it now looks like Eric Smith (concussion) and probably James Ihedigbo (sprained knee) will be out of action for Sunday’s Matchup at the Pittsburgh Steelers.

While Smith wasn’t even at practice this week, Ihedigbo was seen working on the stationary bike and doing light conditioning work.

Without Smith and Ihedigbo, the Jets have only Brodney Pool at Safety.  That means, CB Dwight Lowery will most likely play Safety on Sunday.   The Jets other safety on the roster is Emmanuel Cook, but he was only signed last week.
